Richard Nash

Registered Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist

  • Do you find yourself becoming anxious, stressed out, angry and worrying all the time?

  • Are you having relationship problems with family, friends or at work?

  • Are you experiencing a lack of purpose in your life and feeling disconnected from the world and those around you?

  • Has it become hard to enjoy and engage with life?

  • Have you lost someone close to you?

  • Do you suffer from periods of sadness, despair or depression?

  • Is someone close to you having problems around alcohol, drugs or eating?

  • Have you had thoughts about suicide?

  • Are you finding it hard to decide what to do?

In our own way we all try to cope with and manage the challenges of everyday life. However, sometimes things may come along that feel just too difficult to deal with. We may be surprised by the intensity of feelings, or even by their absence.

Unhappy relationships, bodily symptoms, troubled thoughts and behaviour can all be signs that we have tried to deal with problems by putting them out of our minds. Yet they can still call for our attention and affect our sense of well-being.

Feelings and emotions can be deeply personal, and you may want to keep your thoughts private. You may feel that you wouldn't be understood or heard. Maybe you believe that you would be burdening family or friends. Or perhaps there is just no-one to talk to.

  • Maybe I can help

My name is Richard Nash and I am a psychoanalytic psychotherapist registrant of the British Psychoanalytic Council in private practice based in Southampton. I have over twenty years' experience working with clients, and some of the problems people have come to me with are listed above. I also specialise in working with family members of those suffering from drug and alcohol addiction.

I can offer you a safe, confidential, non-judgmental and reliable place to talk openly and freely about what brings you to seek therapy.

Often events in our formative years influence our current feelings, thinking and choices. Through us working together to gain a greater understanding of your thoughts, feelings and life experiences a real opportunity for meaningful change and personal growth can be opened up.
